From abritton at crocodilian.com Mon Feb 15 00:35:19 2010 From: abritton at crocodilian.com (Adam Britton) Date: Mon, 15 Feb 2010 09:05:19 +0930 Subject: CROCLIST: [Croctalk] John Thorbjarnarson In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: <004301caadce$631577e0$294067a0$@com> It's extremely sad to hear this news, and frankly quite a shock. John possessed a seemingly inexhaustible supply of energy and enthusiasm for crocs, involved as he was in so many different conservation projects around the world. He wasn't afraid to speak his mind and put forward the best interests of crocodilians and those working with them. There's no doubt he made a huge impact in croc conservation, and it won't be the same without him. Our sincere condolences to his family. He collapsed yesterday and was taken to hospital. Our India staff got him into the best hospital and he was given the best possible care, but by then it was too late. The initial diagnosis is that he was suffering from advanced falciparum malaria. We are in touch with the family and all relevant authorities. John was a very special person and a great friend, who put his life and soul into conservation. He will be widely missed and remembered. Please distribute this information as appropriate. -- John G.
